This game uses all of the cards in Heckadeck and is for 2 or more players.
Each player starts with a 5x3 grid of cards face down in front of them. The rest of the deck is in one pile face down in the middle.
The first player (youngest player starts) picks up the top card. If it is a number card, Jack, Queen or King they replace it with the card in number sequence in their grid. For example, if it is a 0, it replaces the first card, and then the first card is turned up. If that card is then a King, it replaces the last card and the last card is turned up. If it is a 7, it replaces the 8th card in the grid (being that the first card is a 0) etc. When they cannot use a card they turn over, they discard it in a discard pile next to the deck.
Then the second player in clockwise order can pick up the discarded card or the card on top of the facedown deck. They take as many turns as they can, turning over cards in their grid, until they cannot turn over cards anymore. Then the last card is discarded.
Play continues to the next player and around the circle of players.
The object of the game is to "open all of the doors" or have the cards in number order in the grid with the royal cards after 11 and going in the order, Jack, Queen then King.
Special Cards:
The Beast cannot go in the grid, so it is immediately discarded and the person's turn is over (like the Elephant or Giraffe in a "Too Many Monkeys" deck).
The Hunters and Travelers allow the player to look through the discard pile to find a card that they can use (like the Raccoon in the "Too Many Monkeys" deck). These cannot be picked back up out of the discard pile
The Joker is the "Wild Monkey" and can be any number or royal card the player chooses.
The Watcher allows the player to look through either the discard pile or the deck of cards to find a card they need. This cannot be picked up out of the discard pile.
The Arrows are like "My Name Is Skip" in a "Too Many Monkeys" deck. You play an arrow on another player's grid. When it is their turn, they have to say the phrase, "Hi, my name is Skip" and then discard the arrow into the discard pile. This cannot be picked up out of the discard pile.
The Shields allow you to force another player to turn back over one of their upturned cards in the grid (like the "Do Not Disturb" card in the Too Many Monkeys" deck). It cannot be picked up out of the discard pile.
The Crone allows the player to pick another player and have them reset all of the cards in their grid. They must discard their entire grid into the discard pile and put the Crone on top. The Crone cannot be picked up out of the discard pile. Then they pick up 15 new cards off the top of the deck and put out a new grid of 5x3 in front of them facedown and essentially start from scratch. The play continues to the next player from the player who drew the Crone card.
The Darkness is like the Crone card, but it happens to the player who draws the Darkness card. They have to reset their own grid.
